 Van a metrón egy reklám, már nézem egy ideje. Könyvreklám, "egy romantikus békebeli családregény"-t hirdet. Van is belöle egy idézet:

"A szép hölgy hagyta meg, hogy ezt adjam át önnek.
Gábor a zsebébe gyűrte a szalvétát, majd az étteremből átment a szálloda félhomályos folyosójára, és remegő kézzel széthajtotta. Csak ennyi állt rajta: '202-es szoba.'"

Nem olvastam a művet, és természetesen nem akarom leszólni sem - kivéve, ha ez a rövid részlet egy jellemző része. Ebben az esetben...hááát...

Ez a szöveg és szituácó szerintem annyira semmitmondó, hogy szinte bármelyik könyvben szerepelhetne - persze a név (és esetleg a helyszínek) megváltoztatásával. Meg is próbálom...
Levettem a polcról néhány könyvet és véletlenszerűen kinyitottam:

"- Poole hagyta meg, hogy ezt adjam át önnek.
Dave Bowman a zsebébe gyűrte a printelt lapot, majd a vezérlőből átment HAL tudatát rejtő félhomályos helyiségbe, és remegő kézzel széthajtotta. Csak ennyi állt rajta: '202-es memóriaegység.'
-Van valami elképzelésed - kérdezte - hogy mi okozhatja a hibát?
Szokatlan volt, hogy HAL milyen sokáig hallgat. Majd megszólalt:
- Tulajdonképpen nincs, Dave. Mint már korábban jelentettem, nem tudom lokalizálni a hibát."

  There is an advertisement on the subway, I've been watching it for a while. Book advertisement, advertising "a romantic peaceful family novel". There is also a quote in it:

"The beautiful lady allowed me to give this to you.

Gábor crumpled the napkin in his pocket, then went from the restaurant to the half-dark corridor of the hotel and unfolded it with trembling hands. It just said, 'Room 202.'"

I haven't read the work, and I certainly don't want to discredit it - unless this short excerpt is a characteristic part. In this case...hmm...

I think this text and situation is so meaningless that it could appear in almost any book - of course by changing the name (and possibly the locations). I will try...

I took some books off the shelf and opened them at random:

"- Poole allowed me to give you this.

Dave Bowman crumpled the printed sheet into his pocket, then moved from the controller to the dimly lit room containing HAL's consciousness and unfolded it with trembling hands. It just said: 'Memory unit 202.'

- Do you have any idea - he asked - what could be causing the error?

It was unusual how long HAL was silent. Then he spoke:

- Actually, there isn't, Dave. As I've reported before, I can't locate the error."
